We spent the first night in San Jose at beautiful Hotel Bougainvillea where we saw some great birds in their wonderful gardens. We then traveled to Selva Verde Lodge for three nights before heading to Rancho Naturalista for three more nights. All three of these locations were amazing - nice rooms, good food, friendly staff, and spectacular birds!

It was great starting our day with a cup of Costa Rican coffee while we checked out the feeders.

The incredible gourmet chef at Rancho Naturalista was one of the highlights of the trip. We sure enjoyed sitting at this beautiful table with point-blank views of hummingbirds, toucans and tanagers!

Our guide Herman (with scope), and driver William (arms crossed) were great fun, and took good care of us all week.
