Southern Ecuador
Bill Sharkey and I were supposed to head back to Costa Rica in March of 2023, but that trip was postponed for a year. To fill the void, we contacted friend and Ecuadorian guide Nelson Apolo Jaramillo about a return to Ecuador. He suggested we cover the southwestern portion of the country, came up with a wonderful itinerary, and the trip was on! We experienced none of the airline trouble or social unrest that plagued our June trip; the trip was a stunning success with lots of laughs, amazing lodges, beautiful scenery, and 480 species of birds!
