"Mystery Gull" (Adult) - Indiana Dunes State Park, Chesterton, Indiana - October 16, 2004

This black-backed gull has many characteristics of an adult (or 4th Winter) Great Black-backed Gull. However, the bird is small for a GBBG, lacks the extensive white tip on the outer primary (P10), and has BLUISH-GRAY, rather than pink legs (note the metal band on the left leg).

Comments on the ID of this gull would be welcomed. Drop me an Email!
