Every birder has "nemesis birds." My wife, Wendy and I have had several over the years, but few as frustating as Zone-tailed Hawk. For ten years, every time we traveled to a state with Zone-tails, I would hear "did you check those vultures?" After checking thousands of vultures, I was convinced we would never find this species. Wouldn't you know it, when we finally saw this bird, we found our second the very next day!
