Every birder has a "nemesis birds." My wife, Wendy and I have had several over the years, but few as frustating as Zone-tailed Hawk. For ten years, every time we traveled to a state with Zone-tails, I would hear "did you check those vultures?" After checking thousands of vultures, I was convinced we would never find this species. Wouldn't you know it, when we finally saw this bird, we found our second the very next day! The third shot was taken in Arizona in 2025.
